This has been quite a week, my darling husband chose to enroll both kids in swimming every morning and Anika in skating twice a week. I was really looking forward to having a month or two off from rushing everyone out the door on my way to work, but now instead of a morning rush three times a week, we’re doing it FIVE times a week. No taking my sweet time getting to work and having the car to myself!
In a stroke of genius, Gary scheduled skating lessons for 6:15pm, so this Thursday, our first day of skating lessons, I had email after email from daddy asking, where are Anika’s snowpant, where are Anika’s skates, I found ONE skate, where could the other be?!
I got home at 5:10, Gary had Anika’s skating bag packed (with her spare skates that don’t fit properly) and off we went. We thought we’d have enough time to have a quick dinner at Boston Pizza, however, after waiting for our food for 35 mins in an empty restaurant with at least 10 employees hooting and hollaring in the kitchen, we asked for our meals to go. It was 6:00 and they hadn’t even gotten our SALADS made!
We sped to the arena (me driving……Gary drives like a 90 year old) only to find out Gary hadn’t thought to pack a coat for Matty and the jacket he brought for Anika had a broken zipper. I’ve no idea why, when she has 4 perfectly good, warm coats, he’d pick the one stuffed at the very back of the closet with no zipper. Luckily we had a light hoodie in the car that Anika wore and Matty wore my jacket with the sleeves rolled up and an extra pair of gloves we found in the trunk.
Gary and my sister took the kids to the zoo today and apparently had a great time. It’s funny how during the three years I was at home my husband was always too busy working to come to the beach or to the park. He was too busy working for vacations to his mother’s house on the island, but suddenly he’s got time to do something HE enjoys every week, but never any time to clean the house!!!
Funny how that works! It all goes to show that dads just aren’t moms! but he’s sure a great DAD!
It’s a funny thing working from home. You simultaneously never have any time to do anything fun and all the time in the world to do what you want. I’m glad that Gary is having fun. Don’t forget to join in on the weekends.
